RELUCTANT PRESS
"Come on Sue, and I'll get you some too."
The pair of them made their way to the hosiery bar on the ground floor.
When they were out of earshot, Doreen turned to Sue with a broad smile. "I bet I can guess what you two were up to in the cubicle. I see you are wearing Mavis's slip and Doug must have yours on. I thought you'd be a bit jealous when you saw his."
"How do you know," said Sue, miffed and guilty all at
once.
"I have X-ray eyes," laughed Doreen. "I also saw the hem when you sat down. Come on, I'll get you one too. Would you like that?"
"Oh Doreen, you are the sweetest most generous honey of a person that ever was. Of course I'd love it."
That was true of Doreen. She also liked to be liked and Sue's gush of warmth pleased her. The two of them were away over fifteen minutes.
"And what have YOU two been up to?" said Mom on their return.
"Never you mind," replied Doreen archly. "Here you are, dear," she said. "Go and try these on," handing me the stockings.
I re-entered the cubicle. I was doing the blacks up at the suspenders when Sue arrived.
"Look what I've got," she said gleefully, raising the skirt of her dress to show me the new petticoat.
I bet Dee got that for you," I said knowingly. "Isn't she a love."
"You bet," said Sue with enthusiasm. "You can change back into yours now aren't you a lucky fish as I intended wearing your Mom's for the rest of the day. I had you over a barrel, see."
I gave her a wry look.
"Just as well I'm dippy about you."

JOYCE'S GIRLS
BY JOYCE
Had I been coarse and crude I might have added, 'And I'll be dipping into you next Friday' but when you are sixteen and not drunk either, you don't.
"Come on, do hurry up and change; I want to see how you look in your unmentionables again you turn me on, you do."
I disrobed for her pleasure but I was getting as big a kick out of it as she was.
"I don't know why, but I find you most exciting in that getup. Frrrriday nightttt," she said as she left the cubicle to join the other women but rolling her r's and snapping off the t's meaningfully.
"There, how do I look," I said as I came flouncing out with all the confidence in the world two minutes later. By this time I was quite certain that it was well nigh impossible to 'read' me not that I knew that piece of jargon at that time. The black nylons felt sheer and heavenly on as did the Silky new frock.
There was a general chorus of, 'You look loverly dear,' and Turn around,' and 'Walk over there.
Looking coyly at Doreen, I said, "In this really supposed to be mine now?"
"Yes, darling, of course it's yours," said Doreen fondly. "I think the way you have carried off this female impersonation this morning is just too marvelous for words and it is my little present to you to mark the occasion. I make one stipulation and that is you wear the outfit to my flat sometimes when you and Mom visit me; just think how it will save the wear and tear on your school clothes."
At this last piece of absurd rationale, she threw back her head and laughed and laughed.
I made some 'Thank you' noises but I wasn't too sure how to take it all.
Actually buying me a dress and nylons was a bizarre piece of extravagance to say the least, Mom made no effort to intervene with a, 'Really, Doreen, you shouldn't'. I think
